The International Day for Street Children is celebrated every year on the 12th of April. The day provides a platform for the millions of street Living Children and Youth (SLCY) around the world and their champions to speak out so that their rights cannot be ignored. Over the last Ten years, the International Day for Street Children has grown in size and impact.
MCMDO also has been sensitive in addressing the problems of street children especially of vulnerable and very destitute part of the community groups since its establishment in 1997. The program is implemented in collaboration with GOAL International, Irish Aid and Almero foundation . Child SPACE program which directly focuses on rehabilitation and reintegration of street children has been striving for the well-being of street children by establishing a child friendly environment in its service provision. MCMDO/DIRC has been carrying out rehabilitation for street Children. As a part of child space program international Day for Street Children is celebrated in DIRC center with the presence of beneficiary children, Arada sub city women and children, office of labour and social affairs , police officers , nearby school(Atse fasil and arbegnoch primary school) directors, teachers and students and CBO representatives.
